Taylor ‘Tex’ Walker. One of Broken Hill’s sons.
Taylor ‘Tex’ Walker is one of Broken Hill’s best ever footballers. Tex became the Crows Captain at the beginning of the 2015 season. For the uninitiated, the Crows is one of two South Australian AFL teams - arguably the best of course - but don’t let any of the ‘Power’ supporters hear you say that!
Taylor went to school at Willyama High School in Broken Hill. His father, Wayne, was a prominent footballer in Broken Hill who played more than 350 games. Tex Walker accepted a NSW Scholarship contract with the Adelaide team at the age of 16. Even under the scholarship he continued to play for his beloved senior local amateur league team, North Broken Hill - the ‘Bulldogs’.
In 2007 Tex lead the Broken Hill ‘Doggies’ to the 2007 Premiership with an amazing seven-goal performance, and was awarded Best on Ground.
