Rick & Cathy win a Tourism Award for Self Contained Accommodation

Multi-award winning accommodation operators, Rick and Cathy Edmonds, have added yet another award category to their collection, winning a Silver medal as
Australia’s best Self Contained Accommodation at the 2015 Qantas Australian Tourism Awards for their Riverland luxury accommodation 'The Frames'

The awards were announced on Friday night (February 5th) in a glittering gala presentation at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre in front of over
800 representatives of the Australian tourism industry.

The best Self Contained Accommodation category was introduced in 2015 after a complete review of the Tourism Awards program at a national level. The property won the best New Tourism Development category in the 2014 South Australian Tourism Awards and went on to win Silver at the Australian Tourism Awards.

Located in the riverside township of Paringa, near Renmark, The Frames is an ultra-luxury accommodation complex. The development is the result of extensive research in both the need for high quality, environmentally sustainable accommodation in the Riverland, and the desire for Rick and Cathy to expand their successful ‘Emaroo Cottages’ business which now offers self-contained, deluxe accommodation across two states.

Designed by award-winning architect, Paul Pruszinski, The Frames features three distinct retreats of uncompromising luxury, set on a cliff-top with views over the River Murray. Each opulent retreat is totally private and features a pool, Jacuzzi and a state of the art entertainment facility.

Marketed as a romantic place to reconnect, rejuvenate and relax, the majority of guests since its opening in February 2014 have been celebrating wedding anniversaries and special ‘couple’ occasions.

“ We are proud of the result of our vision, passionate about the Riverland and tourism in general and we are truly honoured to bring home another win for the region”, Cathy said.

This year’s Australian Tourism Awards attracted a record number of entries as the program celebrates over 30 years since its introduction.

Features of the new development that particularly impressed judges were excellence in the planning of tourism infrastructure and services, with a focus on entrepreneurial vision, harmonious integration with the environment, design and functionality and uniqueness of the property.
